Fees and FAQs

Getting Started

Treatment begins with an initial consultation (2 sessions), which will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation, I will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work will include, if you decide to continue with therapy. This will also be an opportunity for you to evaluate whether you feel comfortable working with me.

Meetings

If we agree to work together, I will usually schedule one 45-minute session (one appointment hour of 45 minutes duration) per week at a time we agree on.  The frequency and duration of sessions can be altered based on mutual agreement.

Fees

Individual Therapy: $270 per session.

Couples Therapy: $320 per session.

Payment is accepted in the form of cash, check, credit card, or PayPal.

Insurance

Sessions are conducted online via video (in real-time) and are considered telepsychology health services.  Telepsychology services are covered by most NYS, NJ, and TN insurance plans.  I am considered an “out-of-network” provider on most insurance plans. Some plans that may have out-of-network benefits include Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Oxford, United Healthcare.  If you utilize your out-of-network benefits, I will provide you with a  receipt that you can submit to your insurance plan for partial reimbursement of my out-of-network fee. My office can also submit your reimbursement request electronically.  After payment of a deductible, out-of-network benefits typically cover up to 60%-80% of my fee.

Check with your insurance to determine the extent of your outpatient telemental health/telepsychology coverage. Some questions to ask your insurance plan include:

  • Do I have mental/behavioral health benefits?
  • Do you cover telehealth/telemental health/telepsychology services with an out-of-network provider?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
  • How much do you pay for an out-of-network psychologist?
  • Is there a limitation on how much you will pay per session for an out-of network provider?
  • Is a primary care physician approval required?

You can share the following procedure codes with your insurance company to determine the extent and rate of coverage for telehealth/telepsychology services (CPT codes: 90791 – Intake Sessions; 90834 – Individual Therapy Sessions; 90847 – Couple Therapy Sessions).

You may also utilize a flexible medical spending account offered by your employer to cover out-of-pocket teletherapy/video therapy expenses with pre-tax dollars.

Cancellation Policy

I have a 2 business days cancellation policy (e.g., sessions scheduled for Monday should be cancelled by Thursday of the previous week).  Since your scheduled time is reserved for you, you are responsible for paying for sessions missed or cancelled with less than 2 business days notice.
